Home Remedies for Dry Skin

As the weather gets colder it can often dry out your child's skin.  Consider these home remedies to nourish and moisturize their bodies.

Olive Oil - Has antioxidants to help protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun.  Apply directly to the skin.

Coconut Oil - Has antifungal and antimicrobial properties and is a natural moisturizer.  Apply after bathing.

Grapeseed Oil - High in vitamin C and good for moisturizing the skin.

Aloe Vera - Softens dead skin cells making them easier to remove.  Split open the leave and remove the gel applying directly to the skin.

Reduce Bath Time - Bathing can reduce the amount of natural oils in the body.  Limit your child's bath time to 10 minutes or less.  Avoid hot water and bubble bath.

Water - Make sure to keep your child hydrated.

Warm Clothes - Make sure your child wears gloves, a hat and scarf to keep their skin from being exposed to the cold.

Almond Oil - is rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants and helps in nourishing and moisturizing the skin.
