Home Remedies to help kids fall asleep
If your child is having trouble falling asleep try these home remedies to see if they can help.
Bedtime Rituals - Establishing a calming and consistent bedtime ritual is one of the best ways to help your child make the transition to sleep. Common elements include bath time, putting on pajamas, reading a bedtime story, singing a lullaby, and giving a kiss goodnight. Try to do it in the same order and at the same time every night including weekends.
Loveys - Having a soft, cuddly blanket or stuffed animal nearby can help kids comfort themselves.
Warm Milk - Drinking a glass of warm milk before bed might help your child fall asleep. The amino acid L-tryptophan found in milk is thought to play a role in making you sleepy by raising the levels of serotonin and melatonin – sleep-inducing chemicals – in the brain.
Soft Noise - Music and white noise can supply calming background sounds to help your child fall asleep.
Scented Fragrance - Dried chamomile flowers, lavender flowers, rosebuds, and lemon balm have all been thought to have calming scents. Leave a small bag of these by your child’s bed or find them as essential oils and spray your child's pillow.
